topic HSA contributions: I was on a family HDHP plan for 6 months and a single HDHP plan for 6 months. What is my max HSA contribution? I think it should be 6325. Tt says 6250 in Deductions & credits

It looks like Turbotax is using the 2019 max numbers (3500/7000) not the 2020 maximums (3550/7100).

TT knows that its HSA limits are based on 2019. so are other parts of the program. you'll have to wait for TT updates. for 2020 being on HDHP Family for 6 months = 7100/2 = 3550 = Self Only for 6 months =3550/2=

=1775 total 5325 + 1000 if you're over 55. this assumes that neither you nor your spouse had disqualifying coverage during the year.

The IRS is also changing some forms for 2020 so TT won't be fully functional until they are approved bOMB and then TT has to integrate them into its app

at this point this is what the IRS has published - the pandemic may push back some of these dates

2020 E-Filing Dates

January 27 – First day to e-file and first IRS acknowledgments of e-filed returns

February 15 – First day refunds can be issued for taxpayers claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit.

October 15 – Last day to e-file returns that received 6-month extension

@Anonymous

You posted the 2020 IRS dates ... the 2021 dates have not been officially posted yet but 1/25 is the most likely choice for the start date however everything is pending on when the forms are posted and approved by the IRS.
