No. Apparently, the IRS doesn't care what a truck driver may smell like after a day of breathing diesel fumes.

I look at it differently. If you are away from home, overnight, on business your travel expenses are deductible. Meals on the road are deductible even if you generally eat cheaper at home. I would put showers in the same category - it's a necessary travel expense if you are away from home overnight, similar to lodging.

I'll buy it. If the IRS were to question me on that, then I'd use your argument. I might lose. But can't say I didn't try.

The Recommended Answer IS Correct Sir. Showers ARE deductible - Personal Hygiene - as well as other Personal Hygiene items, has been for years. Bad hygiene can lead to illness - proven fact, making this Necessary. Enter documented expenses in either Other Expenses or Other Miscellaneous Expenses. IRS will not question showers unless maybe there is Excessive expense, one-two a week is Common. Safe traveling. Thank You Turbo Tax.
