Yes, qualified expenses for tuition, fees, and other related expenses are deductible or may qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit. You do not have to have received a 1098-T form. High school students are not eligible for the American Opportunity Credit however.

Enter your expenses for your students in the Education section under Deductions & Credits.

Unique High School/ College program

My twins (17 yo high school juniors) go to a unique program through the Public School system here in Lincoln, NE. They spend half their high school day at Community College doing vo-tech (my term) type classes to both prepare them for the rigor of college work but also further a pathway to future employment. They are receiving some transferrable college credits in the process. The tuition we owe not covered by the public school is not huge (about $500/year) but all the same we'd like to deduct if legal. I would think it would be but I can't find a good spot to put it (the school does not give us a 1098-T)

https://docushare.lps.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-2521160/%20FAQ-Dec18.pdf

Just to tie a bow on it... the school DID send 1098-T forms but they sent it to my kid's school email so of *course* they didn't tell me about them. So. The lesson: Pester your kids before you bother tax expert online.
