Depending upon your situation, try one of the following options as they apply to you.

Go back to the input section.

On the black panel on the left, select "My Info".

Select "Edit" to the right of the person you marked "yes" for dependent on.
Scroll down the page and you can correct your entry.

If you have selected that you have a dependent, you can go back to the My Info section, and delete the dependent as shown in the attached:

this does not work. clear and start over (and enter a bunch of forms, 2X) doesn't work, either.

my 20 year old son is trying to file as a "single," and it keeps thinking he has a <24 year old dependent, even though he said he doesn't have any dependents.

I'm not sure what we're paying for here, other than frustration.

Another answer on this forum, by an "expert," tried to say that he's supposed to pretend he has a child under 24, because the system is assuming that I'm filling out the data for him. So I'm guessing that the interview questions are sometimes terrible, and our bad answers to TT bad questions lead to irreversible mistakes; "clear and start over" can't fix certain irreversible mistakes.

If you accidentally submitted yes to the child's income of under age 24, try deleting form 8615.

Log in to your account.
Select Tax Tools Then Tools from the left menu.
Select delete a form.
Locate form 8615 and click delete next to it.

Another way to delete Child's Income (Under Age 24) from your tax return:

Go to Federal Taxes.
Go to Less Common Income.
Scroll down to Child's Income (Under Age 24) and revisit.
Answer No to the question Any Child's Income?
