Hello,

So according to the irs, form 8834 is available to be submitted but Turbotax insists it is not. Is there a way around this?

Where are you seeing that form 8834 is not available? According to TurboTax, the form is available on all platforms.

Note, this availability may be quite recent, because it takes time for TurboTax to get the form from the feds, code their own electronic version, get that version approved by the feds, and then code and test the form inside of TurboTax.

Forms are seldom available in any tax software on the same day that the form is released by the government.

My TurboTax still says this form is not available, as of 2/11

Which TurboTax are you using? I am showing it is available online and desktop.

I am using the online version, and when i attempt to fill out the "energy efficient vehicles" section I get "The energy-efficient vehicles section isn't ready yet".

Form 8834 is not yet ready in TurboTax, but it will be in this week's software update/release.

I have this post on my watch list today and will return this afternoon to let you know I have learned, or sooner if I get confirmation of a release date.

UPDATE, 4:10 PM Pacific, February 12, 2020.

Users of the Download/CD version of TurboTax please update your software Form 8936, 8606 and 4684 are now available for immediate use.

For TurboTax online users, updates typically happen in the overnight hours, please check tomorrow morning for updates.
