      <description>&lt;P&gt;If you are on the "Let's enter [name]'s HSA contirbutions" screen, there are two lines:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;The first line is the amount associated with code W in box 12 of your W-2. Note that this can physically be in box 12a, 12b, 12c, or 12d - it's the letter code that matters.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;This number cannot and should not be changed.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;The second line asks for your "personal" HSA contribution. This IRS terminology confuses many taxpayers, because contributions made through payroll deduction are NOT personal contributions. They are called "employer contributions".&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;What should go into line two are only&amp;nbsp;those contributions that you made directly to the HSA, not through your employer.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Once you have entered the code W amount in your W-2, you must not enter any part of it anywhere else in the return.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
