topic Schedule A in Deductions & credits

Confused!! In 2018 I entered itemized deductions in turbotax schedule "A" which exceeded the stated standard deduction for my filing status in 2018. The resulting amount was entered on the 1040, but schedule "A" was not included in the forms printed. When starting my 2019 return it indicates schedule "a" wasn't used in 2018. How do I explain the amount of deductions in excess to the standard deduction on my 2018 return without a schedule "A". Do I go ahead and enter I didn't use schedule "A" last year even though I claimed deductions in excess of the standard?

What was the amount on your 2018 1040 line 8? You might be misinterpreting the amount. Maybe you got the Standard Deduction. There are several deductions that are limited or gone now.

For 2018 the standard deduction amounts are:

Single 12,000 + 1,600 for 65 and over or blind

HOH 18,000 + 1,600 for 65 and over or blind

Joint 24,000+ 1,300 for each 65 and over or blind

Married filing Separate 12,000 + 1,300 for 65 and over or blind

There is a max 10,000 limit (5,000 MFS) of property tax and state taxes "SALT". And you can only deduct Medical that’s over 7.5% of your AGI.

Yes! I didn't see the limit note on max limit on state/local taxes when filing the 2018 taxes and assumed schedule A was used similar to prior years.
