topic Are work shoes Tax Deductible? in Deductions & credits

Hello,

I’ve bought a few pairs of shoes for work and was wondering if they’re tax deductible. I work at a dog daycare/boarding facility and my shoes always get wet with dirty water: pee, poop, etc & poop and pee. I buy them specifically for work and can’t/don’t wear them otherwise...too dirty, stinky, and covered in who knows what.

thanks for any replies 🙂

Under the new tax law, if you are an employee (you get a W-2), you cannot deduct any job-related expenses for the years 2018 through 2025.

if you are an independent contractor (you file a schedule C rather than get a w-2), they are deductible on schedule C.
