      <description>&lt;P&gt;Just to add to my question, the foreign bank which holds the investments is asking for a tax number I believe because they need it for capital gains/distributions withholding before they release/grant her the investments(stocks and mutual funds)&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Doesn't your wife already have a SS# or ITIN to give them ?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is she required to file an estate return ( form 1041) for the estate ?&amp;nbsp; Sounds like the estate needs to pay out the beneficiary which has nothing to do with getting the estate an EIN.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
