This is Ohio. We had a job loss and started an unofficial ebay business that ramped very quickly. We didnt think unemployment would be approved and it was, but we've answered no to receiving any self employment wages on our weekly claims as any money made has been reinvested. It will be enough to receive a 1099 from PayPal, so we want to make sure that we are doing the right thing.

We cannot answer questions about the state's laws regarding unemployment compensation. That is a question for your state's unemployment bureau.

If you have self-employment income you will need to report that income on your tax return, though. You say you will receive a 1099 so that 1099 will also be reported to the IRS/state.
