Hello,

I recently (less than two weeks ago) started a remote job for an organization in Texas while living in Massachusetts. Massachusetts also withholds income tax while Texas does not. I'm not sure how to go about all of this and how it will affect my taxes when it's time to file come early next year. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Texas, of course, has no income tax.

But since you're a resident of MA, all your income is taxable by MA - including your earnings from any remote work.

Since your TX employer will not be withholding MA taxes, you will want to begin making estimated tax payments to MA for that portion of your income. Here's a link to MA's information page regarding estimated tax payments:

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/dor-estimated-tax-payments
