Owe state taxes

I filed my taxes with TurboTax and it showed I owed nothing for the state but I got a letter the other day that shows I owe $1,685 and it has to be paid by the 7th of this month and I don't have that kind of money I need help tell me what to do

we can't see your return or notice. examine the notice to see what was changed and whether you agree with it. if you do then call the state at the number on the notice to discuss payment options. if you don't agree and have support for your position such as you weren't credited with withholding or estimated tax payments get those documents before you and call because these usually can be resolved over the phone or they may request you send in the documentation. otherwise:

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. On the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then select the tax year. Then click on the appropriate blue button. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

Only you have access to your tax returns, no one else.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

You can get a free Federal tax return transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

This is just a public user forum. We are just other users like you. But not even employees can access or see your return or account.

Did your state return show you owe zero? I would check over your return and see if you can see anything wrong especially in the payments section. Make sure you agree with all the amounts listed. Like is the difference the same or close to the refund you got last year? Maybe you put down that you applied last year's refund to this year? Or you put down you made a payment with an extension or paid an estimated payment that you didn't make?

this is a public forum. it others were allowed to see your return you would undoubtedly be contacted by scammers and since your SSN, birthdate and other vital info would be visible you would make a great candidate for identity theft
