Paying for State FIling

Isn't filing the State return part of the Turbo Tax Deluxe package? Or is just the software to download the state included and you can file the Federal return for free but have to pay the fee to file the State return?

Are you using the Desktop program? Yes it is only a free download of the state program. Then each state return including the first one is 24.99 (19.99 before March) to efile.

And if you buy Deluxe in the stores it comes 2 ways so be careful. Deluxe with a free state program download and Deluxe without state.

Using the TurboTax desktop editions, one free state program download is included in the purchase price (except for the Basic desktop edition).

However, there is a state e-file fee that is currently $24,99 for each state tax return e-filed (except for New York state). The e-file fee can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax return.
