topic Why am I paying more (nearly 2 times) non-resident tax to Maryland this year than my whole non-resident tax liability last year and my income is lower this year? in State tax filing

I have used TurboTax software for more years than I can remember. I have been very satisfied with the results each year. Two years ago, after moving to Delaware, I started filing both Maryland and Delaware income taxes at that time. Our filing status for 2016 and 2017 are exactly the same. Non-resident Maryland and Resident Delaware. For some reason the software is calculating that I owe nearly twice as much tax to Maryland for 2017 as I paid in 2016. Our income for 2017 was less than 2016 and 2017 includes Social Security for the first time.

You should review Form 505, lines 1-16 and make sure that income allocated to Maryland in column (2) isn't too much (more than last year).
