Are you sure this is the number of miles and not the deduction dollar amount?

What did you report on the Federal return? What forms did you use to enter the miles?

Were any miles entered on Form 2106, Employee expenses. Those miles would not count on the Federal return, but could on the State return.

Were any miles entered as medical expenses? Those could be limited based on your income.

Maryland allows you to deduct your mileage expenses when volunteering for a nonprofit volunteer fire company or other qualified organization. If your travel expenses were not reimbursed you may claim the mileage at 58 cents per mile, for federal it is 14 cents per mile.

The mileage I entered on the federal form is correct but the mileage shown on the state form is about 1000 miles higher. I do volunteer for a qualifying agency but I do not know why the state shows higher. I am wondering if it is a bug in the program - any thoughts

I went back and looked at my forms from last year and the mileage matched so I think this a bug in the program - any suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks
