state is not loading

I payed $56 for turbo tax deluxe which state was to be free, but no, it said it costs another $40.00 so I payed it, the program says it is up to date but the state does not load or proceed, I am sure I will have to pay even more when I E-File so this is a total rip and I will never use this program again if this can not be corrected or fixed

Im experiencing the same problem. Been using deluxe for years and got it again then looked at back of box said i needed preimer for free state so upgraded my deluxe but still no free state (probably just wasted $30 to upgrade now)

I purchased turbo tax premier Which is to include state of AZ. But the state Does not load. When I go into state it says software is up to date.

This is very aggravating. They admit there was a loop problem, but supposedly fixed now. But Massachusetts is not loading wither. A real pain in the neck. Anyone know how to call them and get this fixed?

My niece used deluxe and that was fine, but I upgraded to Home and business and that is screwed up.

I am having the same issue with TT Premier. Missouri (non-resident) loaded, but Kansas (resident) is not loading. Seems to be trapped in the same loop.

I recommend calling us to request a soft push of the software for the state.

Let the agent know you have been trying to update your software but the update is not loading. They will be able to assist you.

I am having the same problem. This is extremely frustrating. I am thinking for all the time and effort and aggravation, I am going to have someone else do my taxes next year. I have used Turbo Tax for 12 years and this is going to be the last year. There seems to be a new problem every single year with this program that is aggravating.

Type "TTStateCleanup" into your browser - nothing else, including no quotation marks. The quotation marks was just to let you know what to type. This will take you to a link to a Turbo Tax help page that will give you detailed instructions on how to fix this problem. You should not have to pay again if you bought a program that included one state download. Talk to Turbo Tax about that. It took a long time for me to find a phone number for a live agent, but I finally got the info I needed after calling [phone number removed] and the final result is that the agent emailed the link above to me and I was able to get my state return done. But you can get the link (as above) without spending time on a phone call.

I was under the impression that I would receive free filing for five Federal returns and 1 free state filing with the purchase of TurboTax. I am unable to get the 1 free state filing. Is this correct?

@ReXx19walk Sounds like you have the Desktop CD/Download program? Yes you can do unlimited returns and efile 5 federal for free.

FOR STATE....

There is a lot of confusion about this. For the Desktop version it's a free download of one state PROGRAM, not returns filed. You can prepare unlimited federal and unlimited state returns. Some people need to file in more than one state so they have to buy another state program. You can print and mail the state for free or each state is 19.99 early or 24.99 to efile. If you buy the cd at the store the Basic version does not include the state. And Deluxe is available both with and without the state. Because some states don't have an income tax.

Please try logging completely out of the TurboTax website, then clear your browser's cache and delete cookies. A full or corrupted cache can keep TurboTax from functioning properly. If that doesn't work, try a different browser.

@tobrien123 This is an old thread. We cannot see your screen or your tax return. If you are using online TurboTax there is always a separate fee for the state return when you use a paid version of the software. If you are using the CD/download then you can purchase Deluxe both with or without state software so you have to be careful about what you are choosing if you are getting Deluxe from a retailer.

Even though I purchased the federal only, turbo tax wants me to continue on to the state. Will they ask for additional money to do this (other than the filing fee)?

@Anonymous We cannot see what software you are using. If you are using the CD/download ----if you purchased a version of Deluxe that did not include state software, it will cost you an extra $45 to download a state program, and another $20 to e-file the state return. In March that state e-file fee increases to $25. You can avoid the state e-filing fee if you print and mail the state instead.

If you are using online TurboTax, the fees are separate for federal and state, so if you prepare a state return using online it will cost at least $39 to prepare the state (no extra charge to e-file using online.)
