CA State Return Missing Special Formatting

I'm getting ready to file my CA state return. in past years there was special formatting printed across the bottom of a couple pages. Like a real long QR code or something. They aren't there on my 2019 return. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks!

You are referring to page 3 of Form 540. This section was previously reserved for a 2-D bar code and was under the Tax Due section.

This was used before to scan the information by the FTB.

While there is no specific information on the state website, as technology has advanced and they are essentially scanning in the information from the forms, they may not need the actual bar code anymore.
