topic Should I have to pay Maryland $210? I work in MD but live in PA. I have never had to file in MD before, this is the first year. It's an odd number, maybe a new tax? in State tax filing

Did you file in Maryland as a non-resident? Also if taxes were withheld in Maryland, then you need to file taxes in both states. i don't know what your specific circumstances are but you can avoid paying Maryland taxes altogether by filing form MW 507 with your human resources dept. When you file this form, you will not be subject to Maryland tax withhold because of the reciprocal agreement between Maryland and PA. Here is a link to that form to fill out and submit to your HR dept.

I did file in MD as a non resident. But I think I’ll go with your suggestion. Thanks!
