Worked in another state over the summer

I am a Pennsylvania college student who worked and lived in Texas for 3 months during the summer (this is the only income I earned for the year).

My parents residence and my college residence are both back in Pennsylvania.

Do I need to pay PA state taxes on my earnings working and living in Texas?

Yes, in general as a nonresident you pay income tax on any income earned in the nonresident state (if the state has an income tax). For your RESIDENT state you must report and pay state tax on all income regardless of where it was earned. You do get a credit in your resident state for any tax you paid to the nonresident state on the same income, but since Texas does not have a state income tax, you do not get the credit.

So even though I lived (I had an apartment in Texas) and worked in Texas for 3 months the summer, I still need to pay taxes back to Pennsylvania?

Do I also need to pay local taxes back to Pennsylvania?

Yes. You are a resident of PA and the city you live in. You pay whatever taxes you would normally be subject to.
