No, you enter you social security income on your Federal tax return, and if it is taxable it will flow to your Oregon State tax return.

The software does not do this when you are filling out a partial resident. I moved from GA to OR in July and when I did the Oregon state return it will flag it as an error if you leave it blank.

And when you enter the portion of your SS earned while residing in Oregon it then taxes it at the full state amount, even though Oregon does not tax social security.

To make matters worse, you can't revisit that portion of Turbotax to edit it. When you try, it only gives the first step and not the page where you enter in SS. The only way to change it is to delete the entire state and start over. I've been using TurboTax for about 15 years - this is really messed up.

No Social Security is posted in the Federal section of the return. Oregon doesn't tax Social Security.

As of early 2026, nine states tax Social Security:

Colorado,

Connecticut,

Minnesota,

Montana,

New Mexico,

Rhode Island,

Utah,

Vermont, and
