Im normal pretty savy and no one has been able to give me a straight answer. This is all new to me. I work in Youngstown OH, 2.75% city tax gets withheld from my pay. I live in Poland OH. But I don't live in Poland School district. I'm considered Springfield LSD (5010) They require 1% tax. I've never had to pay a school tax before so this is new to me. I rent and don't have kids in the district. But I guess anyone with an income has to pay the 1% tax to the school. Someone was telling me. If I work in the city and pay the 2.75% city tax. That I shouldn't have to pay the Springfield LSD (5010) tax. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

In Ohio, the city income tax (CIT) and School District Income Tax (SDIT) are two different things. You are subject to the Youngstown CIT because you work in that city. You do not have to file a city tax return; your withholding satisfies your obligation.

But you are also subject to SDIT for the SD you live in. You do have to file an SDIT tax return. You do not get a credit for any city tax paid* on your SDIT reurn.

TurboTax (TT) does not automatically prepare a School District return, you must initiate it.

At the screen, in the Ohio program, titled "A few things before we wrap up your state taxes"
scroll down to School District taxes.
Or later at the screen "Your 2019 Ohio Taxes are ready for us to check"
    -Click Other situations
-Scroll down to School District taxes.

Usually the School District return is e-filed with the state return, but there are exceptions. Read the Ohio 'filing instructions" that TurboTax prepares, They will tell you if the SD100 was e-filed or if you have to mail it.

*If you lived in a city (not an SD) with an income tax, you would get a credit for tax paid to the work city.
