State if Indiana

Software for Indiana needs to be corrected. Indiana allows a deduction for foreign income tax. The deduction is calculated based on instructions for Schedule 6, Line 5 - Credit for taxes paid to other states. Please correct the software for the 2019 tax year.

The 2019 program is in it's infancy right now ... it will require many updates over the next 3 months and state programs are never fully up to date prior to February.

I appreciate that the deduction for Foreign Tax will be incorporated in the 2019 State of Indiana software for Turbo Tax. I was concerned because it was not included in the 2018 software. Thank you!

If you think there was an issue with that in the 2018 software, you should call Customer Support (M-F 5am-5PM PACIFIC time) and let them work thru the situation with your 2018 tax file, to see if that is really a software problem, or if you were just confused as to how it was supposed to be applied. IF you are correct, then they (TTX) may not know there is an issue with that which needs to be fixed. I don't see any FAQs that recognize that as a particular problem with the 2018 software and Indiana.

Thanks, I just recently found out from a tax attorney that missing this deduction is a common error and Indiana does a good job of burying its availability. I will call customer support - great suggestion.

Ahhhhh yeah. We do need to also be clear that it's not an income deduction, it's a tax credit.
