Double charged for State e-file

I purchased TurboTax Deluxe + State 2018 Tax Software [PC/Mac Disc] from Amazon. When I try to file state taxes (NC), it's trying to charge me another $24.99. I already paid for this!

Nope you didn't.

There is a lot of confusion about this. For the Desktop version it's a free download of one state PROGRAM, not returns filed. You can prepare unlimited federal and unlimited state returns. Some people need to file in more than one state so they have to buy another state program. You can print and mail the state for free or each state (including the first one) is 19.99 to efile (goes up to 24.99 in March).

When you purchased the TurboTax Deluxe desktop edition it includes one free state program download in the purchase price. There is an e-file fee for a state tax return when using the TurboTax desktop editions which is currently $24.99. Your purchase of the Deluxe desktop edition does not include this e-file fee.

You can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state tax return.

I file a return for my son and myself. Do I have to pay a $24.99 state filing fee for his return and for my return too?

In the Desktop CD/Download program yes it is 24.99 to efile each state return or you can print and mail state for free. What you get in the Desktop program is one free state program download to prepare unlimited state returns. Efiling is extra.

I got double charged for Deluxe even their receipt showed $94.20 and then I got wacked for $134.20 What is going on just a rip off? Doubt I will be using them next year if this is how they operate. Not very honest, this used to be a good program.

Those fees look right. You must be in California. I assume the first line is 59 but was on sale for 44.25? Plus there might be sales tax on something. The last line is the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) to have the fees deducted from your refund.

Or did you buy the Desktop CD/Download program?
