I filed back in February and have yet to receive my state taxes and they said I needed a letter with a code and the code didn’t work

Then if the code did not work it sounds like your state tax return has never been filed at all. You can print it, sign it and mail it in to get it filed. Use a mailing service that will track it—like certified mail or UPS — so you will know the state received it.
