I worked in VA where I live and in CA, KS and GA. I did not make very much in other states.Do I have to pay $40 or so for each state. I only made about $2,000 in each state other than VA? That is a little high.

Unfortunately yes with TurboTax each State return is additional to efile. You can print and mail them out but you will have to print and mail your Federal.
