Yes, Massachusetts has a form M-8379 which is for a non-d...

Yes, Massachusetts has a form M-8379
which is for a non-debtor spouse to request relief similar to the Federal
Allocation, if there is a prior debt of
MA State income tax which can be allocated to one spouse. TurboTax doesn’t
handle this form, however. You would have to fill it out by hand and mail it
in.

Hello, if I efile my tax returns, do I mail this form in separately? Thanks!

Yes, if you have already e-filed your forms you should mail in the spouse form. You can call the state department of revenue and ask them where you should mail the form, or if facing it is an option.

So I pulled the numbers for this form directly from my tax return and the DOR reduced my refund saying I claimed deductions and exemptions I shouldn't have on my form, as I filed married filing joint and apparently dont qualify for the exemptions on my form. My husband had no income. Heres my M-8379

Is DOR correct? I don't understand what they mean by that.

Your deductions and exemptions are nicely split. You are not in a community property state. I can see no reason why they told you that. I would call the state and ask them to please review your file and forms. They should either fix the problem or explain it. If you have a phone number from the letter they sent, call it. Otherwise, call (617) 887-6367,

The credits are all on yours, those are not split. I don't know what the refund should have been, was this $631 the majority of the refund? You have to be getting at least half and really it should be more. Call them! They need to look at the paperwork again. Good luck!!
