If your driver's license or State issued ID is not being accepted when you enter it exactly as it is shown, in TurboTax Online, you should be able to leave the driver's license/state ID information blank, and still file your tax return. Your driver's license number is actually not required to file your federal taxes, nor is it required to file your State tax return in most states.

Two states, Illinois and Alabama, do require a driver's license to file a state return.

For additional information, you can view the IRS information on New Security Safeguards.

the drop down for drivers license format does not include what my NY DL shows: ex xx/xx/xx ; drop down doesnt include this format. I selected xx/xx/xxxx and it seemingly worked but surprised that the NYS standard format was not available to select.
