TurboTax Online pricing is for online preparation of your return, NOT e-filing (which is no extra charge). You will need to pay for both states to have TT Online prepare them, whether you e-file or not.

(You may want to consider MFJ or "separate on same return" for one or both states, especially if you both live in one of them. If you live in one state and work in another, unless a reciprocal agreement applies you will owe tax to BOTH states, though your resident state will probably credit you for what you pay the other state. Though the MFS "penalty" isn't as bad in most states as on Federal returns, you still may benefit by filing jointly.)

My wife lived and worked in MO in full 2016 and I lived and worked in IL in full 2016. Since my kids lived with my wife in 2016, is that ok for us to file MFJ for Fed and MO? If I have to file for IL, I guess MFJ for Fed and MFS for MO and IL would be the only solution for me? Does download/CD deluxe have one or multiple state(s) without extra dollars? Thanks!

Since you live separately, I'm not sure if you can file jointly in either state. As far as TurboTax CD/Download, that usually includes one free state program; you'll have to pay for the second state, but that's still better than TT Online (assuming you haven't paid for it already). You can download your TT Online work to date into a *.tax2016 file to finish it in TT CD/Download; the option's somewhere in the My Account menu.
