Having a CA drivers license does not dictate that you have to file a CA tax return. If you did not live or work in CA you do not have to file a CA tax return. Did you live in CA for any part of 2025? If so, you would need to file a part-year CA return for income received while you were a resident of CA.

And...if you have been living in some other state for over a year since leaving CA, you are way past due to get a drivers license in your new state.
