    <description>&lt;P&gt;I am itemizing this year due to the increased SALT deduction.&amp;nbsp; I understand that there may be a limit, but I want to see the option of choosing standard or itemized.&amp;nbsp; In my case, after the "unallowed" is deducted, the itemized is less than the standard deduction.&amp;nbsp; Can I choose to take the standard in Georgia?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I understand from the program that some people choose to use the standard if it benefits them on their state return.&amp;nbsp; But in my case, even if I changed to Standard on my Federal, in INCREASES my state amount due, not decrease.&amp;nbsp; So, I can't/won't change my federal&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is this the politics at work?&amp;nbsp; President Trump changed SALT, but the states aren't changing to match, right?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;On a Georgia state tax return the deduction used is the same as what was used for the federal tax return.&amp;nbsp; It cannot be changed on the state return.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Georgia requires you to itemize on your Georgia Return if you itemize on your federal return. &amp;nbsp;They also require you to use the Standard Deduction on your GA tax return if you used the Standard Deduction on your Federal return. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
