I lived in AZ in 2025 for less than two months. I had an apartment and even got car insurance.

My id remained from old state, my car was still registered in old state.

Does this mean I am to be considered to be out-of-state worker?

Does this mean I owe state of Arizona taxes on my interest, dividends, stock sale or work income?

thank you

It depends.

If you earned any income from Arizona sources while residing within Arizona, you might need to file a part-year resident Arizona return. It would also depend upon your filing status and the amount of your Arizona adjusted gross income. If you meet the filing threshold amounts, then you would need to file a part-year resident Arizona return as well.

Please see this link from Arizona for more details on the potential filing requirements to determine if you meet this requirement.

Arizona does make this determination based upon each taxpayer's circumstances. You mentioned renting an apartment and changing your insurance to Arizona while you lived there. This indicates an intent to move to Arizona permanently. But if this is not accurate and your move was only on a temporary basis, then you would be considered a nonresident of Arizona.

Per Arizona residency status guidelines in this link, if you reside in Arizona and intend to make it your new residence, you would be considered a resident, or part-year resident in your case. However, if your move was only intended to be temporary, then you would be taxed in Arizona as a nonresident and would only be taxed on income that was earned from Arizona sources.
