It depends, you can file your return now with TurboTax. However, South Carolina is telling people to wait until the state legislature follows the One Big Beautiful Bill Act2 (OBBA). Especially if you have to report any of the following:

Tips

Overtime

Car loan interest

State and Local Tax Deduction

Research and Experimental Expenditures

Business Assets

Here's the latest information letter from South Carolina regarding this matter.

It appears that TurboTax has been updated assume South Carolina will eventually conform to the provisions of the OBBB. As best I can tell, the South Carolina legislature has not taken the matter up yet.

It's Feb 15, 2026 and I'm ready to file my SC return. TurboTax automatically added back in the deductions I'd taken on my Federal return to reflect SC's NOT CURRENTLY CONFORMING to the OBBB. For me, that's almost $4400 TO THE BAD.

I will be waiting to file my SC return in hopes SC will conform and TurboTax will update.

Man, I already filed mine sometime during the last week of January bc my last W2 came in earlier than expected and that's all I needed. I filed already, saw SC is still not conforming, so I'm just still waiting for the return. I think it's only been 3 weeks since then so I'm wondering how much longer it's gonna be.

If you have filed, wait and see if the legislature decides to incorporate the OBBBA and then you can amend- if they include TY2025.

If you have not filed, you can continue to wait and even file an extension or you can file and amend if the legislature changes the rules and backdates it to include 2025.
