Here's my state tax situation:

I've been working at the same company for the past 20+ year. The company is in California. I've been living in CA longer than 20 years while working there. On July 5, 2025, I left CA state and moved to TX. However, the company that I work for remains the same (in CA). Starting July 2025, I worked remotely from my TX home. Texas has no state income tax. Starting July 2025 my tax withholding had no state income tax withheld.

Does anyone know how to file my CA state tax? Can I use Turbotax Deluxe desktop Fed & State edition to file?

You will need to prepare a part-year CA return. TX has no state income tax so there is nothing to prepare for TX

Thanks for the articles. It appears that link #2 and #3 contents are identical. I'll give it a try later when my W2 and 1099s are available. Will be back to ask questions if I have more to ask.

I'm in State tax section on my Turbotax desktop edition. It's asking me to fill out the amount of interest and dividend I earned while I lived in CA. I left CA on July 5, 2025 for TX. I never came back to CA at all (not even 1 day).

I understand I'm supposed to add up the amount of interest and dividend from January 2025 to June 2025 while I lived in CA. However, I'm not sure if I should include July 2025 interest & dividend. My logic tells me not to include July because the interest didn't get posted until the end of July but I still lived in CA for 4 or 5 days (July 1 to 5 the day I left CA). Does anyone know the answer to this?

Yes, the answer follows. Include July, 2025 ONLY if you actually had receipt and access to any interest or dividends earned in July by the 5th. If not, you can assume none of the July interest or dividends would be included. Basically, if nothing posted to your accounts by July 5th do not include July in your calculation for the California (CA) return.
