The fee you paid for using TurboTax is separate from what you scheduled for direct debit from your bank account. Even though you may have put the day you want to have your money debited, the state may or may not do it exactly on the day you specified. So make sure you have the money there when the transaction is made. So before you transmitted your return, you would have been given options on how you wanted to pay. Without knowing what state you filed with, I can be general. But if on the way to completing your return, if you gave up bank account info and a payment date to have the money come out of your bank account, you only need to wait until that happens. You can always look at your return to see if that is what you chose.

Hi, I had a question for the community to answer. I’m very new to turbotax and filing taxes altogether. I owe state taxes and was under the assumption that I had scheduled a payment for tax day, today for the money to be taken out of my banking account. That was relative to seeing the processing fee but now. I wonder if that processing fee is separate just for turbotax helping me and if I had to separately pay my state taxes through my state tax division. Hoping someone understands my issue. Thanks.

Yes. If there was a charge on your bank account, that sometimes happens before a payment is approved for the state.

TurboTax would not hold off the processing fee that way.

Ok thank you. I filed in the state of West Virginia. I looked at someone else’s article just to make sure I electronically input a day scheduled for withdrawal. I couldn’t find how to do that lol. Considering the date for withdrawal was today, tax day. Nothing having been withdrawn made me a little anxious but that may be a next day type thing or somewhat else. I appreciate your reply!
