That's the estimated taxes area in the federal return and you've entered a state tax payment but didn't enter the state's postal code. California's is CA. Go back there and make sure your state tax payments all have CA next to them.

Would this "ID" be the "State's postal code" for every state? This question has been asked so many times but never gets the same answer that everyone can use. Some answers say it's on the W-2 but I have a 1099 Misc. Some answers say that if that box is blank on the W-2 leave the "ID" blank on the tax payment worksheet but the error check will not allow you to e-file if you do. If the answer for everyone is "the state ID is the state's postal code" then why not just say so on the TT worksheet?

Because that would take up too much room. Any "State ID" reference is to the postal code. IRS uses the same terminology.
