I live in NY and earned $1750 in NJ in 2024. On the W2, the state is NY and I have NY tax withhold.

So that means I did not have NJ tax.

1. Do I need to file a NJ tax return?

2. Do I need to pay NJ any tax?

No; as a nonresident, you would not have to file a New Jersey if your New Jersey income is less than $10,000 single/$20,000 married filing joint. No New Jersey tax would be owed.

See NJ Division of Taxation - Income Tax - Nonresidents
