What is happening is that you selected to pay the $25 state e-file fee with the federal tax refund on the screen where you were being asked to pay for the charge. You should have selected Pay with credit card. The pay with federal tax refund option is an additional $40. Go back and start the File section over and when you come to the payment screen select Pay with credit card.

Thank you for the quick reply. I still have a problem though that I am overseas and have an overseas billing address and can't use a credit card - so I just print out the state return and mail in. But I still get the $40 option screen and can't download the state form even when selecting "no state efile" on the File section. Any suggestions? Thank you again.

In the File section of the program you need to select File by Mail. And on the following screen, select do not file my federal return at this time.

This will allow you to print and mail your state tax return.

I see you started another thread where I left you some information, so it may get confusing having 2 threads.

In your other thread it sounded like you haven't even downloaded the state software yet, because it's asking you to pay first. So first see what I wrote in the other thread to be sure you are using the correct version of the Deluxe software that includes a state program. If you purchased somewhere other than TurboTax, Deluxe also has a version that doesn't include state software.

Thank you - yes, my mistake - I thought all versions of Deluxe had one state download.
