Responded to NY state audit but case closed

We have received audit letter from NY state for 2023 filings. We have responded to audit on time. After waiting for long time, on line status says "CASE CLOSED". We haven't received any letter with decision.

We are expecting tax return from state and it's not deposited to bank. We have called NY state for few times but no response from them other than automated message of case closed.

How do we know what's the decision on our returns? Do we need to consult a CPA?

You should be able to contact someone in the NY Department of Taxation and Finance concerning the status of your tax refund.

The couple of times I have had to call the NYS tax department, the people I talked to were surprisingly helpful. Not like the IRS at all.
