topic NY residency in State tax filing

I signed a lease for an apartment in NYC on May 30 2023 and moved from NJ. However I did not change my DL and also my NYC employer still has my NJ address on file.My W2 is sent to NJ address.

I find that claiming part time residency in NY seems tedious. Can I still file as NJ resident and NY non-resident?
The NJ address is my parents where I lived before moving and my parents still live there.

No, you will need to file as a NYS part year resident since you currently ride there since may 30.

Thanks for the response. Curious how it matters. I lived in NYC 3 days a week and remains days I lived in NJ. As far as anybody is concerned I am a NJ resident since I did not change my address with my employer.
