topic 2 state filings in State tax filing

Hi,

This is for the extension deadline Oct 16th. Spouse/I will file federal married filing jointly. I am a resident of State #1 and she is a resident of state #2. Got Deluxe Turbo Tax with 2 states. State #1is filled out correctly (my tax) but State #2 did not (her tax). State #2 auto-populated state tax form with my info not hers. How do I 'trick' TurboTax to fill in State #1 with my info and State #2 with hers.

One way might be to fill out again a new federal tax form with her name first and my name as 'spouse'. Then I assume State #2 will be populated with her income details not mine. Then print out 2 forms and file by paper. Looking for another way so that have to retype in all the federal info.

Are you filing the states as Married filing Separate?

If you need to file a Joint federal and separate state returns

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-prepare-a-joint-federal-return-and-separate-state-returns/00/25564

You have to use 3 different new returns. One to file the Joint return. Then you each need another new return to fill out fake federal MFS returns to do your separate state returns. You will have to print and mail the state returns.

Thanks for the link and the response. Yep, the solution is tedious but appears to be only way much appreciated.
