Does anyone know why on the 1040 state tax form why the following line items are not reflecting. I inputted the numbers in the program when asked, however when i prereview the filing, these sections remain blank. Additionally, this is the first year that I am doing my taxes myself and I am comparing last year's return (completed by a Tax Accountant) verses what I'm currently seeing now. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Missing fields:

line 30 - Exemption Amount

line 31- Medical Expenses

line 38 - Total exemptions and deductions

line 40 - total property taxes paid

First what state are you filing? Also, the laws change from year to year. If you input all of the information on the Federal return, it should have automatically flowed to the state return. However each state is different. I will take a guess and say it is a NJ return. However, it is still impossible for us to determine if you have entered everything correct without seeing the return.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I am from New Jersey. The Federal taxes do reflect these numbers, additionally when I preview "tax returns, all calculations worksheet", I see the missing numbers in the actual State return, however the numbers do not reflect on the "summary" version of the NJ-1040 which lists all the lines from 1 to 80. So I tried to go into "Forms mode" and manually populate the numbers, I was only able to populate the Property Taxes, not the Exemptions or Medical Expenses. Is there another way to get these numbers in or does NJ look at all the tax forms and will actually see the numbers in the form outside of the summary table. Thanks again.
