Greetings, I've submitted my federal tax return via TaxAct. Then at the end found out they charge a fee for filing state of MO. Is there a free service that will let me file a MO return without the Federal return ?

See if you can prepare it on the state site. (You cannot prepare "stand alone" state returns using TurboTax).

Here's what I'm running into with TaxSlayer on the MO free file page: "At this time, we do not offer ‘state only’ filings to customers who have not filed a current year accepted federal return with us."

Well just gonna answer my own question for anyone else that submitted their Federal Return with TaxAct and realized too late that they would charge a fee for the state return. Found two fixes. 1040Now.com will do a stand alone state return for free if you qualify. Other way, in Missouri, is just to go to Missouri Department of Revenue site and complete the fillable and calculating MO 1040. You can even email your return to them so you don't have to print or snail mail (email address is found at bottom of MO 1040).
