I filed a return for 2021 for a taxpayer whose dependent had a TIN but for 2022 has a SSN.

Taxpayer did not get the $125 or $200 ATR. Would she be eligible for the ATR credit of $200.00?

No, probably not. I assume you are referring to the Indiana Automatic Taxpayer Refund (ATR). The conditions to get the ATR in 2022 are very different than in 2021.

Here is an excerpt from the Indiana DOR website:

Because eligibility requirements for the $200 ATR differ from the initial $125 ATR, if you were not eligible for the initial $125 ATR, you may now be able to claim the $200 ATR as a refundable tax credit only if you:

received Social Security benefits in 2022 (eligibility documents will be required); and

are not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s 2022 Indiana income tax return
