Using Turbo Tax for both federal and states. Spouse resident of Michigan and I am resident of Virginia. Trying to file Virginia State taxes using the turbo tax program. When attempting to fill out the Virginia data the program tells me to prepare a Virginia return as married filing separately and provides a link to the instructions. When I click on the link it takes me to the "Welcome to Turbo Tax" splash page and does not provide any specific instructions for filling out the Virginia return. Can you provide instructions for doing this within the Turbo Tax program itself. Have completed the federal and Michigan state forms but am unable to access the Virginia program.

not sure which version you're using. does it include the state return for both states? usually, you have to pay to add a second state. check with support

You can use TurboTax Online to file separate state returns, but we recommend you use the CD/Download software version to do this because you'll only need to pay for one TurboTax product (you can file up to five returns).

Here's detailed info on how to file as Married Filing Separate State Returns if you choose this option.

If you started in TurboTax Online, here's how to transfer your tax file to the desktop version.
