Different states label this section in different ways. As you go through your state return, keep an eye open for a page with several categories of inputs, such as Education. You will generally find the 529 plan contributions in that section.

If you cannot locate where you need to input your information, please share your state and we may be able to provide more specific instructions.

I'm trying to enter my Virginia 529 contributions. Turbotax says to enter it on the "other situations" tab (the pop up window description explicitly says to enter 529 contributions here), but when I open the tab, there is no place to enter Virginia 529 contributions.

I eventually found it - on the income page at the top, not under the education section (and not under the "other situations" tab that says it does 529 contributions).

It's usually on the page "Here's the income that (your state) handles differently".

For Virginia, scroll down to:

-Education

--Virginia College Saving Prepaid Tuition (Section 529)Plan

@raholdenjr, please try the steps below to enter the Virginia 529 contributions.

Click on Tax Home from the Left Side Menu.
Click on Personal Info form the main screen.
Click on State from the Left side Menu and press Continue..
You should see Virginia Return. Press on Continue next to it and answer the questions accordingly
You should then see a page with the title " Here's the income that Virginia handles differently". On this page, scroll down and you should see a section for "Education". You can enter information in this section.
