topic Should I file a non resident return in DC if I lived in MD but had DC taxes withheld ? in State tax filing

I've always lived in MD, however I changed jobs in March 2021 to a job in DC to one in MD. I've seen this in a bunch of other questions related to the DC and Maryland reciprocal agreement. However it's unclear to me.

I have 2 parts to my W-2. A DC and a MD section. Boxes 15 -17 show different values. Specifically on the DC form in the "State Income Tax" box 17 it shows a different value than the MD version. Do I need to file a non resident return for to this ?

The DC-MD reciprocal agreement allows you to file and pay taxes in your resident state if you work in the nonresident state so you do not have to file two tax returns. You can file a 2021 D-40B Fill-in and request refund of the withholding. This will save you the filing fee. If you have not already done so, ask your DC employer to withhold for Maryland.

Just to confirm, I should only file for MD in TurboTax with the values on the MD return and then submit the DC form you linked separately?

Yes, you can file the Maryland online and complete and mail the D-40B separately. @bsprints
