CA State Tax Form 3554 (New Employment Credit)

In the Turbo Tax review of the California State Tax Return, it asks for an entry in Question A at the start of the form asks - Did the Business receive a tentative reservation for all claimed employees? There is a box to check for Yes or No. We do not have any employees in the company - do I leave it blank or check 'No'. Thanks for your assistance.

Taxpayers use form FTB 3554, New Employment Credit, to figure a credit for a qualified taxpayer that hires a qualified full-time employee and pays or incurs qualified wages attributable to work performed by that employee in a DGA and receives a TCR for that employee.

Since you don't have any employees and don't qualify for the credit, delete form 3554.

Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

You have not specified your software version but try these steps.

Also, if you need to remove a business that transferred over from your prior-year return, don't just delete Schedule C. Instead, remove the business.

Windows instructions

Sign in to your TurboTax account
Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon
From the menu, select the form you want to remove
After the form is generated in the right pane, select the Delete Form button
Follow any onscreen instructions to remove the form or forms

Mac instructions

Sign in to your TurboTax account
Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon
From the menu, select the form you want to remove (if you don't see it, select Open Form at the top)
From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name]
Follow any onscreen instructions to remove the form or forms
