topic w-2 summary and refund not updating to reflect NY state tax allocation percentage? in State tax filing

I lived in NY but worked remotely for a job outside of the sate for a couple of months this year before moving to the new location. As such, I need to allocate how many days/what percentage of my gross income was earned while in NY for my state taxes. I've seen a lot of questions regarding this process on here, and I believe I understand it, however whenever I attempt to allocate the wages (via percentage), my refund doesn't update, nor does the "New York Wages" page after the allocation forms are completed. It simply remains as showing "Total Wages" being equal to "Wages for New York". If I do it via days, the "Wages for New York" value DOES change, however the "Let's Review Your New York Numbers" still displays the unallocated income as "Amount Taxed by New York".

Even when I swap back and forth between 100% and 1% allocation, the refund doesn't seem to update. Is there a way to confirm that my allocation is being taken into account for the final calculation? My NY state refund is dramatically lower than usual (and I had no exemptions), so this makes me suspicious that something may not be getting tallied correctly.

Thanks for any insights!

It seems that doing it by days does yield changes, however the finally estimated income at the end is inaccurate, so I assume I am just misunderstanding how to count the days 😛

If you are still getting an error, it would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2021" file that is experiencing this issue.

You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.

Then select Tools below Tax Tools.

A window will pop up which says Tools Center.

On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.

You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.

Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
