Amending my MA tax and getting Form M-8453 and Form 1 with barcodes...

I am amending my federal and MA state tax return. For the state, Turbotax generates Form M-8453 and Form 1 (in a special format with barcodes) and instruct me to mail them. However, these forms look like to be for e-filling. What should I do?

Form M-8453 does not get sent - its a remanent in the print out from your electronic filing.

Form 1 should have a checkbox for the amended return at the top and that would be the form you would need to mail to MA along with any supporting schedules that printed (besides M8453).

TurboTax doesn't efile MA amended returns. I believe what you are likely seeing is a version of the form that is designed to be more easily scannable for processing. Does it contain the same information that you see on Form 1 but its just in a different format? Probably looks more like a computer printout.
