Just follow the requirement -- cannot fight with the city hall. There is probably some statements to this effect in the "Use License"

Is there more one of us can do for you ?

ERO Question

Greetings all.

I am getting ready to file my 2025 taxes for a Trust, for which I am the Trustee.

I am using TT Business, and have done my own taxes (No paid preparer).

As in the past, I intend to use E-File. I've noticed this year that on the 8453-FE, there is a “Declaration of Electronic Return Originator (ERO)”. I've researched when/if this is required, but it is unclear to me if an ERO is required in my situation. Not sure if this is new, but I have never used an ERO before.

As always, thanks in advance for any input.

@melpaw57 , generally a tax professional working for himself/herself will have PTIN and also ERO license and use the 8453 to get permission of the taxpayer to file the return on behalf of the taxpayer. So I am at a loss how you end up with 8453 if you are using TurboTax business or Home & Business. This does not make sense ---- a trustee is just another taxpayer and should not need ERO license or 8453.

I used that when using professional software from Intuit like Lacerte.

Something no make sense

I am using Turbo Tax Business 2025. In the "File A Return" Section, TT states:
"Before you file, the IRS requires you to attach an electronic copy of your signed Form 8453-FE to your return".
